Potomac Speedway Don Breach 4/12
With rain in the area the CRW flags/RCR team reluctantly loaded up and drove down to Potomac Speedway, we just knew we would be rained out for the last race of the season!

On the schedule for the Hobby Stock division is the 25 lap double point race!

We arrived at the track and low and behold the rain had left Southern Maryland!

The 40 team took the track for warm-ups and the car ran well. We started 2nd in the heat race, ran very well and finished 3rd out of 12 cars.

In the feature event we started 4th we were holding our own challenging the 2nd and 3rd place cars but settled for 4th out of twelve cars.

This is the last scheduled race for the CRW flags/Rugged Cross Race team for 2009. We have already started to build our new 2010 race car.

I would like to thank all of our loyal Sponsors that made the 2009 season a successful season. The 40 team finished 4th in the point standing's out of 30 cars. Once again thanks to the following sponsors:

The rain-out feature was ran first for our class. We started seventh and moved up to fourth and finished 4th out of 10 cars. Then came the regular scheduled events;

We won the heat race starting on the pole and never looking back. Finishing first out of eleven.

The feature was next and we started fourth. We lost a few spots and were running sixth when Don spun out on the last lap of the feature. We finished 8th out of 11 cars.

One race to go! The event will be run on 11Sept09. This race will settle the close points battle. Currently Don is holding on to fourth spot in points. The final race will be double points and 25 laps.

The normal scheduled feature was ran next and we started seventh and were moving up good. We were in the fifth spot when the 99 car spun us out going into turn one with one lap to go. We moved back up and finished 9th out of 16 cars.

CRW Flags/Rugged Cross Racing team went to Potomac Speedway on Friday 14Aug09. We had a good warm-up and had a good feeling about the night to come!

We started third in the heat race and ran well but could only get a fifth place out of the race, out of twelve.

In the feature, we started on the pole(1st) and ran well for the first part of the race. We settled in to fourth until the yellow came out with two laps to go. That's when our night took a change for the worst! The green flag came out and the green lights came on and we took off! We passed the third and second place car. The yellow came out and they penalized for what they called jumping the start. However, we just did what they stated was legal, "when the green light and green flag comes out it is legal to pass and race". We got penalized two spots. So we restarted in the 6th place. Then one of the cars got us sideways and we lost a few spots. We finished ninth out of twelve cars. Not the night that we expected, however the car is one piece and we have next Friday off.

Next race is 28Aug09. We have two feature events that night!

God Bless!

Don and Amy drove to Potomac Speedway Friday 7Aug09 with no rain in site for a change! With a new set-up on the car we did not know what the outcome would be, we did have good feeling about what we did to the car!

Warm-up went well with the car hooking up good and we had plenty of power! The heat race we started on the pole(1st). We held the lead for a few laps and eventually finished third out of seven.

In the feature race we started on the pole. On the start we were fast lead for a few laps and eventually dropped into the second spot. We ran well and finished third out of thirteen cars.

However, we lost our clutch in the heat and had to get a push start in the feature event. This is two weeks in a row we had clutch trouble however, we came out of the event with a second and a third.

Will be back on the track on 14Aug09.

The team traveled to potomac Speedway Saturday. However Mother Nature did not cooperate! The night looked OK when we got there but the bad weather came in quickly and rained out out the Feature event!

Warm-ups went OK and the heat race, we started 8th and moved up to 6th.

We will be running two features on Friday 31Jul09.

Hopefully the night goes well!!

The 40 team got the car back together with lots of help from Ron Medeor, Mike Scaggs, and ProFab. Don took the track for warm ups, not knowing what to expect. To our suprise, it handled great.

In the heat race the 40 car started 6th of 8 cars. We held our own but the car was a little tight. He finished 5th.

In the feature, Don started 10th. He steadily moved through the field dodging numerous accidents by fellow competitors. He finished 2nd of 19 cars with a broken clutch and minimal body damage.

The 40 team will return to racing on 25 July. Hobbystocks are off on 17 July.

Finally racing is getting fun for a change.

Another race night at Potomac Speedway! We had a good warm up session with hopes of a good night to follow.

The Heat race we started fifth and would eventually finish fifth out of nine. The car was very tight and we would work on that for the feature event to follow.

In the feature race Don started 14th and would move up in the field and run well. We held our ground and never got touched until the final lap! That's when all Hell let loose! Going into turn three we dodged parts flying off the 81 car and moved up to 6th place On the final lap coming out of turn four one of the competitors came up the track after getting out of shape and tagged us while we were running full throttle. This turned us into the front stretch wall HEAD ON! We knocked down the wall and the car received major damage! We hope to get it back together to get back on Friday 10Jul09. Oh by the way, the old man driving the #40 car was OK after the incident. Unfortunately he hit the wall on the wrong side of the finish line and never finished. Thus was scored 15th out 19 cars.

The 40 team drove down to Potomac Speedway on Friday, hopefully all of our ignition problems have been solved! We got out on the track for warm-ups and everything felt fine with the motor.

Started fifth in the heat race and ran well moved up as far as third but finished fourth out of seven.

Unfortuantly the rains came and washed out our feature event.

We will be back racing July 3rd at Potomac Speedway.

The 40 team went to Potomac Speedway friday once again with high hopes! Unfortunately the ignition problems that have been haunting us for the last few weeks still troubled us all night! We started eighth in the feature and dropped out with our problems with the motor. We finished eighth out of eight starters.

We will try again on Friday 26Jun09 to get this ship righted! We have narrowed the problem to a bad batch of distributers that our engine builder has installed on numerous other engines that he built. We are going to replace this before we go back to Potomac and hopefully this will solve our problems!!!!

We went down with high hopes but they were quickly shot down in the heat race. We had ignition problems all night. Car was missing. Retired from feature and finished 11 out of 13.

Taking the car to Susquehana Speedway for their "Test and Tune" hopefully to figure out our problem.

Since Friday's retirement in the feature have replaced plugs, wires, coil, module, distributor cap and went throught the carberator and hopefully found the problem but will know for sure Wednesday. Did receive hard luck award Friday for our misfortunes.

After spending many hours rebuilding the car, we tried again on Sunday. We started seventh in the heat and move up a few but could only get a fiIn th place finish out of seven cars.

In the feature, we started eleventh and quickly moved up to fourth place, avoiding many spins and accidents by the other competitors. On the last lap, the 99 car as usual ran into our right rear wheel and broke my axle again. Don kept his foot to the floor and crossed the finish line on three wheels in the 5th spot (finished 5th out of 15 cars).

The RCR/CRW Flags team will have May 29th off and resume the following week.

What a week-end!

Friday, the team went down to Potomac Speedway with high expectations! However Demolition started in the 1st heat.We got spun out on the first lap. Don received a flat tire and went off the track after only one lap.

We lined up last in the feature race hoping for a better result than what happend in the heat race. Don made contact with a spinning car on the first lap. We got one more lap in and broke our right axle, thus finishing 15 out of 15.

The 40 team raced on Friday night.

Practice went well, car was plenty fast!

Heat race was another story, started in position six out of eight. Car just did not get much bite and we only could muster a fifth out of eight.

Feature we started fourteenth and on the first lap the front of the field had a big accident and we wrecked into the rear of the 36 car and pancaked the front end. We however keep moving. We quickly moved up to inside the top ten and was challenging for seventh on the last lap and a car came down into us at the finish line tearing thje right side off of car. we finished ninth out of sixteen.

The car has been put back together and the RCR/CRW flags team is ready for a two race week-end (Friday 22May & Sunday 24May)

The RCR Team had a decent night. We took the track for warm ups and everything checked out fine. Started 12th (last) in the heat race and ran competitive. We finished 7th. Unfortunately, one of the top six cars could not make the pill draw, so we got to draw for one of the top 6 spots.

Crew Chief Amy drew the #1 spot for us. In the feature, we led for the first 5 laps until we got bumped out of the way by the 2nd place car. We held our own in 2nd for a few laps until we got bumped again. After collecting the car, we assumed the 6th spot, passed one more car, and finished an unofficial 5th. After further inspection by the official after the race, they found that the 1st place car was illegal; therefore we finished 4th out of 12.

No racing for the next two weeks!

The car had many changes made to it this week and we were expecting big things. The car ran great in warmups.

In the heat race, we started last (6th) and struggled with terrible track conditions, did our best and finished 4th. Before the feature, we made some changes to the setup of the car. Unfortunately, the car didn't run as great as we expected. After starting 9th, we finished 6 out of 13.

The RCR team is continually searching for a winning combination and will try again next week.

The Rugged Cross Racing Team made it down to the Speedway and had a dry night of racing in spite of the rain that was predicted.

We started 10th in the heat, quickly moved up to 3rd, and we got bumped with one lap to go. We recovered and finished 6th out of 11.

In the feature, we started 6th but lost a few spots on the start moving back to 9th. We got the car back under control and moved up to 6th where we finished.

The engine is just a bit off, but I will meet with the engine builder this week to try and get a little better performance. There was no damage to be repaired.

The #40 team drove to the speedway in hopes of a good night of racing. Things started out well in the heat race. We started first, and the car ran well. We finished 2nd out of 8 cars.

In the feature, we started 2nd--got trapped on the outside at the start of the race losing a couple of spots in the first turn. While going into the 3-4 turn, the leaders piled up. Unfortunately we were collected in the malay. We restarted in the back of the pack, 14th, and worked our way up to 5th for a respectful finish. The car ran well with minimal damage.

We are looking forward to next week.

The 40 team excited and ready for 2009 season drove down to Potomac Speedway on Friday the 20th of March. Opening day came quick this year, with the Potomac Speedway’s car show taking place the previous Saturday and practice done on Tuesday night. Friday we took the track for hot laps and the car performed great. It handled like never before! However with the Super Late Models and the Late Model on the card for the night, we knew the track would change!

We started 3rd in the heat out 11 starters. On the 1st lap we were struck by one of the other cars. We continued on just to make contact on the 3rd lap with another car. We continued on once again and finished 6th out of 11.

In the feature we started 3rd and on the 1st lap the driver (Don) made a driver error and got into the 1st turn a little too hard and looped the car. We got back in the race and avoided a few cars spinning and finished 7th out of 11.

Not really what we expected for the opening night. We will be back on Friday the 27th for hopefully a much better night.

Amy and Don took the drive down to Potomac Speedway on 17Oct08 for an exciting race week-end.

Friday Don took the track for practice and was very encouraged with the performance of the car. Car was fast and handled great! Don started sixth for the heat race and ran well and finished third out of seven cars.

Saturday for the twenty lap feature event we were scheduled to start sixth out of fourteen cars. Don moved up and was very competitive and survived the first incident with the car. We were spun around going into turn two, but the 40 car kept on going holding on to the fourth spot! Unfortunately, on lap thirteen an amateur driver driving the #8 car drove into us as in a "DEMO DERBY" and spun us around and we received a flat tire. Once the tire was changed we restarted in the rear of the field. We ended up finishing ninth out of fourteen cars. Unfortunately idiots like that are allowed to continue to wreck contestants and cost us many dollars in repairs! All I know for sure is, there will definitely be a time next year that the #8 car will be in front of me and maybe I will incur brake failure!

Feature race started 6th/finished 9th out of 14.

This concludes the 2008 race season for the Rugged Cross Racing Team #40 car. We will start the rebuild the car as soon Don recovers from some minor surgery.

The 40 team traveled to Potomac Speedway on Friday 3 October to compete in the Small Car Nationals. Amy (Crew Chief) and Don (Driver) had high hopes of a good week-end. With a new motor and new rear-end installed we were ready to compete.

Friday: Practice went well, the car was fast and handled great. We started sixth in our heat race and ran OK finishing fifth out of ten cars.

Saturday: In practice, we were very fast and had very high hopes for the upcoming feature event! Don started ninth and quickly moved up to fifth. The forty car was moving up until about lap twenty, when the car started to lose a little power. Don hung in there and finished seventh out of twenty cars.

Sunday we went over the car in search of what was the cause of the lose of power and found a spark plug wire came off!

The final race will be the Vernon Harris Memorial week-end scheduled for 17-18 October.

The warm ups went well with a new power plant under the hood and rear-end repairs done. All went well-- the car was very fast and handled well!

In the heat race, we started last (7th), moved up and finished 3rd. For the feature race, we made minimal changes. We started 6th out of 15 cars. While running a very competitive race, we dove under two fellow racers and the no. 17 car drove into our right rear tire/axle breaking our rear and spinning us around--thus being hit by two other cars. We finished 12th out of 15.

The bright spot of the night was that the car ran faster than it had in the past 8 weeks.
The rugged cross/crw flag racing team finished 6th in points for the season.

Once again, we praise God for all the help that our fellow race teams and friends have helped us during the season.

Next race is the Small Car Nationals which is 3-4 Oct.

Short and Sweet "We stunk"! The Rugged Cross Racing team had high hopes for Sunday's event! We had gone over the motor on Saturday and found some problems. We fixed them. We also had our Engine builder Scott Cross go over the motor before we raced. Everything sounded and looked good.

Warm-ups went OK. We lined up 9th out of nine in the Heat race. We made two laps and had a broken Mini-spline in the rear-end. We tried feverishly down in the pits with great help from the Tony Quade team, Jason Murphy team and the Ron Meadeor team. Thanks to all who attempted to get us back on the track! However we could not get back on the track as the axle and C-clip would not come out. So we could not get out and compete. We did take the green flag and make a lap for points.

Feature started 18th and finished 17th out of 18.

Racing on the 29th was very iffy with threatening weather all around! We did not know if we were going to rained out or not, however we took the long haul down to Potomac Speedway anyway. We got to the track traveling through rain storms on the way.

We unloaded and sprinkles remained. We took the track for warm-ups and the car was down on power. We made some adjustments to the car and went out for our heat race. We started 9th out of nine cars. Don drove hard but the car still did not have full power, he finished 6th out of 9 cars in the heat.

The 40 car started 11th in the feature. We did not start our feature until 1:15 A.M.. Don did everything he could to get the car to run but the car was badly under power for some reason. We ran the worst all year! Don finally pulled in after 20 laps. After running 11th two laps down it was time to retire for the night. Don finished 11th out of 18 cars.

Heat race started 9th finished 6th out of 9 cars
Feature race started 11th finished 11th out of 18 cars.

We are slated to race Sunday 31 Aug 08 and hopefully we have all the bugs out and we can get competitive again.

Don And Crew Chief Amy drove to Potomac Speedway on Friday to hopefully have a much needed good night!

Warmups went well the car seamed fast and handled good.

In the Heat race Don started third out of eleven. Don ran good holding off the other contenders in the third spot until the last lap. He got a little loose in the turn and almost spun out. Don finished eighth out of eleven in the heat race.

In the feature we were hoping for better results! Don started eighth and ran in that spot for most of the race. One car got past, and he was stuck behind a car that kept cutting him off. He then made his move and the other car cut him off once again hitting in the passenger side. Don continued on passing the #2 car and finishing eighth out of eleven.

Heat race started third finished eighth out of eleven.
Feature started eighth finished eighth out of eleven.

The 40 team headed down to Potomac Speedway on Friday. We had a good practice session with no problems. The car handled good with no problems.

In the heat race Don started 2nd. He ran and handled good holding his own in second place for most of the race. With two laps to go he got passed by two car in turn four and finished fourth out of seven cars.

In the feature we started 8th. Don ran OK however just did not have anything for the top five cars. He was running in the seventh position with two to go and got spun out from behind by one of the competitors. He fortunately did not receive any major damage and restarted at the back of the field. We moved up one spot and finished 11th.

The CRW Flags/RCR team Racing Team ventured out to Potomac Speedway and came home with encouraging results. Our luck may be changing. Warm ups went well - the car was powerful and handled well. In the heat race, we started 4th and finished 3rd. For the feature race, we started 2nd and got trapped on the high side, thus losing several spots; quickly finding the car in 10th position. Then, with a successful comeback, we were able to pass numerous cars and avoided several accidents, finishing a fine 4th. The CRW flags/RCR Race Team will be off for two weeks, starting up again 15 Aug 08. For anyone interested, new t-shirts are now available. E-mail ruggedcrossracing@comcast.net if interested.

The CRW Flags/RCR team headed down to Potomac Speedway on Friday to try again to get back on track with a good night. We had a real good warm-up with the car looking real strong! We started last in the second heat race and the car turned extremely tight in the turns. We checked things out after the heat race, and found out we had a tire going down! Amy repaired the problem and we went out for the feature. Don started ninth in the feature and started out a little tight however, Don tried a few different lines and the car started coming around. We quickly moved up to fifth. We looked liked we were going to have a good finish but lost a little power and finished eight out of fourteen cars.

We are looking for a little luck soon as we have had three 8th place finishes in a row! Not where we want to be, so we keep plugging away and our luck will change soon, I hope!

We took the track after extensive repairs were done to the CRW/RCR car. We rebuilt the whole right front of the car (spindle, lower A frame, ball joints, caliper, brake pads, brake lines, shock and wheel and tire) as well as the rear-end (axle, bearing and seal, brake shoes, wheel and tire). We were not sure how the car would handle. Don went out for warm-ups and the car surprisingly handled just fine. Started fifth in the heat race and ran well and finished fourth. Started ninth in the feature and was very competitive completing all 15 laps and picking up an eighth place finish. We hopefully will have the 40 car completely up to speed next week with new tires and replacing the bad set of headers that had got damaged in the 20Jun08 accident.

The 40 car drove down to Potomac Speedway for Friday's event. With high hopes and much work being done on the motor this week, we had great expectations' for the outcome for the night!

We had a good warm-up. Started on the pole (1st) for our heat. We ran very well and finished 1st out of seven cars. We then got the car ready for the feature event. The track got extremely slick, due to the Super Late Models running the there feature. Our car was very loose, and we spun out on lap three. We regrouped and powered on! However one of the other competitors had other things in mind! I received one of the hardest hits I have had in many a year of racing! He just plainly ran us over, or should I say he ran under us. This competitor who will remain nameless, never even checked up and got us airborne and nearly flipped the 40 car. We ended on top of him and almost turned the car over! Thus we received substantial damage (broken spindle, broken caliper, shock, axle, 3-flat tires, 3-bent wheels, broken exhaust pipe , bent lower A-frame). Quite a pricey night. But we hopefully will get the car back for Friday's event.

Feature Started 6th.... Finished 11th out of 15 cars

The RCR/CRW Flags #40 car made the long hike down to Potomac Speedway with high expectations of hopefully getting back on the winning track. We had changed the cam and went over everything on the engine with hopes that we had gotten all the bugs out and would be running competitive again. We went out in warm ups and the car seemed to be down on power. We took the track for the heat race starting 5th out of 8 cars. The car once again down on power. After going back to the pits, and changing the spark plug wires and the timing we took the feature starting 13th out of 15 cars and was competitive for about two laps then the car lost power AGAIN. We ended up still getting a top ten finish taking the 10th spot. We have made many changes over this past week and hopefully this Friday the 13th will prove to be lucky for us.

After much work was done on the race car by both Tony Quade's crew and Mike Cross, the Rugged Cross #40 car took the track on 25 May for a double feature. While running the first feature, Don realized the car didn't have any brakes and was still under powered. Nonetheless, he raced the whole race, and ended up crossing the finish line on three wheels when a C-clip broke and we lost the left rear axle. However, we still ended up finishing the first feature in 9th place. Due to the misfortune in the first feature, we were unable to locate another C-clip and fix the motor so we loaded the car in the trailer and watched the remainder of the races from the stands. The Rugged Cross Race team will be working on the car throughout the week and should be ready for racing again on 6 June.

On 23 May 08, the 40 team took the track for another race night at Potomac. We went out for warm ups and our heat race and had some adjustments that needed to be fixed on the car due to the new motor we put in. We were all set to run in the feature race starting 10th and unfortunately we never got to run the race due to an accident knocking over the flag stand during the street stock race. The races were immediately canceled for the remainder of the night. Due to the cancellation of our race on Friday, we are now scheduled to run twice on Sunday, 25 May 08. See the below article and the pictures of the terrible incident.

As posted from Potomac Speedway Web page:
In the shortened Coors Light Street Stock main it was P.J. Hatcher picking up his first win of the season. The street stocks could just not get it together as several cautions and red flags flew for this event. On lap ten several cars tangled coming off of turn 4 which resulted in the 23t of Josh Gass flipping badly down the front stretch taking out the flagstand. Thankfully no one was injured in this terrible crash. The race was called on lap 10. Crossing the line second was Kyle Nelson, third Donnie Smith, fourth Kevin Cooke and rounding out the top five was Ben Oliver. Heats went to Nelson and Gardner.

The RCR team was ready and prepared with the new motor in tack for racing Friday.

The team worked long hours on Thursday night to get the car ready. We were at the race shop until 3;30 Friday morning working on the new motor! We continued Friday at my house finishing up on the car. We left to go racing and we got word that the races had got canceled at 4:00 pm due to heavy storms that came through at the track. The track stated that the in field pits as well as the lower pits were flooded and could not be worked in by race time.

We are slated to race on Friday the 23rd as well as Sunday the 25th. We hope and pray that this motor will be our last for the season!!!!

Many thanks go out to all that helped out on Thursday and Friday to get the 40 car ready to race.

The Rugged Cross Race team took the track Friday night attempting it's second win in a row! Don had a competitive heat race with the set up of the car just a tick off, finishing third out of seven.

The team made numerous adjustments in the pits to improve the set up and Don went out for the feature starting in the 12th position. The set ups made a great difference to the car and we were on our way to a good finish; when suddenly BANG the motor went. We blew the motor while running 7th in the field of 13 cars. Thus retiring to the infield to view the rest of the race from there.

They say "they run their best before they blow"! Hopefully we will back on the track for the next event that is not until 16 May 08.

I would like to extend a "Happy Birthday" to Crew Chief Amy Breach!!!!

God Bless all and see yah at the races!!!

The RCR/CRW Flags race team took off to Potomac Speedway Friday evening and we had our first win! Don had a good heat race starting third and running very well finished in third. In the feature race, Don started first and never looked back. He finally got the monkey off his back and achieved his first career win!!!

Many thanks to all the great sponsors and dedicated crew members that made this possible.

In the fifteen lap Sunoco Race Fuel Hobbystock main event it was Don Breach picking up his first ever career win. Breach and Meador (the 2nd place car) would lead the field to the green with Breach taking the lead. Breach and Meador battled but it was Breach leading all fifteen circuits to pick up the win, Ronald Meador second, third Jimmy Suite, fourth Jason Murphy, and completing the top five was Troy Kassiris.

The CRW Flags/Rugged Cross Race team was off on Friday April 4th ( the Hobby Stocks were off all other divisions were scheduled to race). As it turned out all races were rained out anyway.

However the week was not totally uneventful! Don's race car trailer was broken into on Monday night and a large amount of the tools and racing accessaries were stolen! In addition three other trailers parked at the lot were also vandalized, including Bruce Kane's #1K teams trailer.

Anyone that might hear of people selling used racing equipment or tools, please contact the police ASAP. We would greatly appreciate any help if any to catch the idiots that did this!

We do have to thank God that no one was injured and the car was not harmed in any way. Even with everything that happens we still need are very Blessed!!

We, the 40 team will be back on the track Friday 11April08 to try to capture our 1st win of the 2008 season.

The CRW Flags/Rugged Cross Race Team took the track with high hopes! However, the good Lord had other things in store for us.

Don went out for warm ups, and at the green flag, he broke the Mini-Spool in the rear end. We thrashed in the pits to rebuild the rear and with a lot of great help made it for the feature!

We started 11th and quickly moved up to 5th in only two laps. The RCR team then received a flat right front tire. The yellow flag came out,and we quickly came to pit road and got out without losing a lap. We then fought back to 5th again, and on the last lap got loose coming out of turn four and lost two spots. The final result for our long night of troubles was 6th out of twelve. Not bad for all of the problems that occurred!

A shout out goes to Richard, Steve, James and all of the Quade racing crew that made it possible for us to even get back on the track! Praise God for all of the people that stepped up in the pits in the absence of our crew chief who was out in L.A. taking it easy!

The Rugged Cross Racing team took the track for the first race of the 2008 season.

Don, had a good warm-up in high hopes of a good night to follow! We started on the pole for our heat/qualifying race. Don got a great start and pulled away from the field! He never looked back and finish 1st in the race!

In the feature, we started 2nd and held our own for most of the race and one car slipped by. We finished 3rd!

Our team hits the track next week for hopes of our first feature win!

The #40 team traveled to Potomac Speedway for the last race of the 2007 season on Friday and Saturday Oct. 19/20.

The team took the track on Friday night for the qualifying race in the Saturday Hobby Stock feature event. We started second out of twelve cars. Don quickly moved to the front and lead the field for almost the entire race until the last lap when Kyle Nelson passed us on the last lap. Don finished second out of twelve cars. This qualified us for the "Dash Race" as well as Saturday's feature event!

Saturday's event went quite differently! We took the track for the Dash, starting third out of four cars. Once again, we quickly moved to the front of the pack in one lap! We lead the field into turns three and four and in one turn, got a flat tire and broke a rocker arm stud. This put us out for the Dash. Thanks to the help of numerous teams, we got the car put back together for the feature race.

In the feature event, we started fourth out of twelve cars. Unfortunately, the tracked changed and we could not get the car to handle. The car was down on power and eventually overheated. Don finished tenth out of twelve cars.

This concludes the 2007 season for the Rugged Cross Racing/CRW Flags race team. I would like to thank all of our sponsors and supporters for making this season possible! A special thanks goes out to my daughter Amy for all her hard and dedicated work as Crew Chief, Team Manager, and #1 Fan! We are looking forward to a better 2008 season, and we are hoping all of our great supporting sponsors will be on board for 2008.

Peace Out and God Bless!!!

On Friday and Saturday, 5 and 6 October, the Rugged Cross Racing Team traveled to Potomac Speedway for the Small Car Nationals. Friday night was practice and qualifying. We took the track for the first time with the new motor and ran well in our heat race, finishing 5 out of 8.

Returned on Saturday for our feature in hopes of a good finish. Started tenth in the feature, moved up to 6th, running with the leaders. Half way through the race we lost a little power. We didn't know what was wrong at the time, so we continued, but lost a few spots in the race. We finished 9th out of 16 starters.

We later found out that the power loss was due to a broken rocker arm stud. It will be fixed, and we will return for the Vernon Harris Memorial which is scheduled for 19-20 October at Potomac. This will be the last race for the season for our team.

The Rugged Cross Race team had a long week in preparation for the final points race of the 2007 season! We worked on the car Thursday until 11:30 p.m. getting the new motor in the car and running. Friday, we had a few minor things to complete, and we were ready for the night of racing!

We made the long haul down to Potomac Speedway with threatening skies. Unfortunately, the weatherman did not cooperate with us. After unloading the car, they canceled the racing for the night. The night of racing could not be made up. So we finished eighth(8) in the Hobby Stock points Standings for 2007.

We still have two(2) more races at Potomac Speedway, October 5th and 6th will be the Small Car Nationals and October 19th and 20th for the Vernon Harris Memorial weekend.

Many thanks go out to Scott Cross for all of his hard work on getting us the motor in time to at least try to race on Friday.

The forty car took the track for another week of racing at Potomac Speedway! We had a good practice session and ran well in our heat race finishing 4th out of eight.

Then came the feature, a twenty-five lap double-point race that we were looking forward to! Unfortunately, the motor did not cooperate! We were running in the fifth spot challenging for fourth, when bang! The motor blew. Unfortunately, the damage was so severe we could not get back for the Sunday race. we finished 13th out of 15 cars.

Missing Sunday's event cost us a spot in the point standings. We are currently are now eighth in points. Hopefully we will have our new motor in for the next event on the September 14.

On August 24, 2007 the CRW/Rugged Cross Race team took the track for another adventure at Potomac Speedway! During the week, we spent many long nights making major changes to the set-up on the car. We changed the weight and the stagger as well as the front end alignment of the car. Many thanks go out to Jim and Wendy Jesmer for their help!

We went out for warm-ups, and the car handled totally different! We started sixth in our heat race. The car ran and handled well. We finished third out of eight cars.

The forty car started sixth in the feature. We were running very well until once again we got a flat right rear. After getting the tire replaced by the crew, we got back out without losing a lap. We quickly moved from thirteenth to eighth in a few laps. Then the 78 car deliberately took us out! We received front end damage and continued in the race finishing ninth out of sixteen.

Unfortunately the track promised that any deliberate spinning of cars or aggressive driving would not be tolerated, but no penalty was assessed to the 78 car.

Well, we will be back on the track on Friday, August 31 to try again. I guess its not about racing hard and trying to pass cars its more about avoiding getting taken out by fellow competitors!

The highlight of the night was taking the kids out for a free ride in the stock car and having the opportunity to hand out a few shirts.

Many thanks go out to the #28 Tony Quade racing team for their relentless help they provide to our team each and every week.

The #40 hobby stock car took the track in an attempt for a good finish. Unfortunately Amy picked about the worst starting spot possible as she picked pill #72 which had a start of 8th in the heat race. Moved up well finishing 4th out of 8 cars. Made some minor adjustments on the car.

Started 8th in the feature and moved up to 6th on the first lap. On lap 2, received a flat tire. We went to the pits and changed it. Returned to the track starting in the rear and moved up to 9th and got spun out. Regrouped and came back out on the track to finish 8th out of 15 cars.

Not unhappy with the finish considering the situations we faced. Better luck next week!

#40 car took the track for racing on Friday August 10 with high hopes of a good night!. The heat race went well, finishing 3rd out of 8 cars, with plenty of power and a slight handling problem. Made some minor changes to the car. Started the feature 5th, and ran well for most of the feature race getting hit from behind numerous times, while running 6th got bumped again and nearly tore the rear off the car. Lost two spots with the rear tail section of the car hanging came across the finish line in 8th out of 16 cars.

On the August 3rd the CRW Flags/Rugged Cross Racing team took the long trip down to Potomac Speedway once again in the attempt to win a race! We had high hopes as we made many changes that we hoped would change the outcome of our night.

Well, the warm ups went well, and things went down hill from there! Started 4th in our heat race ran OK but seemed to be down on power a little. Finished 5th out of seven.

Feature time came, and we made some changes to our set up as well as jetted the carburetor a little different, we started 9th out of 15. We held our own, but really did not have anything for the leaders. While running 8th we were tagged by a fellow contender and received a flat tire. We went to the pits and changed the tire and retired for the night, thus finishing 13th out of 15. This was our 1st DNF ( did not finish) of the season.

We definitely look for better thing next week!!

The #40 car took the track for in the heat race starting 4th of 8 cars. Don ran competitively and finished in 4th place. The Rugged Cross Race car started 6th in the feature race of 16 cars after making some minor adjustments. The car ran well until the last few laps when it tightened up and starting bouncing. Don finished 7th of 16 cars with no damage to the car at all.

Some minor adjustments will be made this week and hopefully run a little better on August 3rd.

The curse of Friday the 13th was definitely present at Potomac Speedway Friday night! All classes had extreme difficulty handling the tough track conditions.

The CRW Flags/Rugged Cross Racing team took the track for another attempt at racing competition; Warm up went well with the team making some changes to the car! We then went out for our heat race, that's when the curse hit us! After a very positive warm up we could not even get the car to go around the turns with some kind of handling problems! We survived and finished 5th.

The feature was next for us to attempt! What else could possibly go wrong? The Hobby Stocks took the track at 12:30 (that's right 12:30 am) and after numerous yellows we ended up 4th out of 16th. We survived numerous accidents and mishaps from other contenders, surprisingly after a terrible heat race we were very competitive! Too bad they decided to shorten our feature who knows how far we could have moved up!

On July 3, 2007 the CRW Flags/Rugged Cross Racing team took the track! The 40 car started 7th in the heat race and quickly moved up to 3rd, unfortunately while challenging for the lead... spun on the last lap. Don finished 5th in the heat.

In the feature race we had high hopes while starting 7th... we moved up to 5th within the first few laps. With one lap to go we were trying to pass the fourth place car and got in turn three a little bit too hard and lost it, spinning into the infield bringing out a yellow flag with one lap to go! We finished a disappointing 12th out of 14.

The good thing was the car handled better than it has all year, and with no major damage to fix from the night at potomac speedway we are looking forward to competing on Friday the 13th!

With rain clouds all around the sky, the Rugged Cross Race Team took their chances and made their way to Potomac Speedway. The #40 car took the track in the heat race starting in 3rd of 6 cars. Don was having a lot of trouble getting the car to hook to the track and he ended up finishing the race in 6th place. After making some changes to the tire pressure on the car, Don went back out to the track for his feature race. Starting in 7th place the car was running very well. He quickly moved up to 5th and held that spot for a few laps until the car locked up on him. The #40 car dropped back to 8th place for a few laps then Don regained his 5th place position and finishing in that spot. Although the race had a few caution flags thrown, all in all it was a clean race. The Rugged Cross Race team will be back to racing on Tuesday, 3 July.

The #40 Rugged Cross Racing car took the track once again for another race night at Potomac Speedway. Don started 3rd in heat race. While running 3rd, the car received a flat tire and exited to the pits. Don finished 7th in the heat race. In the feature race, Don started 11th of 13 cars on a very slick track. Avoiding and getting tied up in many accidents, he finished the race in one piece. Out of 13 cars, Don finished 5th. Unfortunately, due to a little contact in the feature, the team had to replace the bumper and front plastic on the car. The Rugged Cross Race team tried a new set up on the #40 car with new jets and tire pressures with hopes of a better finish. Don went into the heat race in 2nd place and had slight problems with the carburetor. He finished 4th of 7 cars. After making some adjustments to the carburetor, The #40 car started on the pole (first) in the feature race. Don was running well for the first two laps, leading the pack, then was taken out by one of Potomac's impatient racers (Troy Kasiris). He received a flat tire, and a broken mini spool (rear axle). After changing the flat tire, Don went back out on the track but could not make good advancement to the front. The #40 car finished 10th place out of 12 cars. The car became extremely tight and didn't advance to the front as well as Don had hoped. He finished 7th of 12 cars. The team will be back to racing on 8 June and will hopefully be more successful.

On April 20th, it was a bright and sunny day down at Potomac Speedway. Amy drew a good pill for the first starting position in the heat race. The heat race went well until the #40 car was bumped from behind causing Don to lose 2 spots and finish 4th out of 7 cars.

The Rugged Cross Race team had high hopes for the feature race. Starting 7th out of 15 cars, Don held his spot for the beginning half of the race but got trapped behind a "Wild Man" who nearly hit the wall numerous times. After 12 laps of green flag racing, the first caution came out for the "Wild Man" who broke down. Unfortunately, the #40 Rugged Cross Race car finished 9th out of 15 cars. The Rugged Cross Race team was back to racing on April 13th. The #40 car started 8th out of 9 cars in the heat race. After quickly advancing to 4th place in one lap, the car was taken out by a fellow competitor in turn 3 and 4 receiving a blown tire and retiring to the pits.

In addition to racing on Friday the 13th, Don also started the feature race in 13th starting position. If he was superstitious, then he would have thought the CRW/Rugged Cross Race team was in big trouble but he went into the race with no fears. After about the 5th lap, Don found himself running very well and he moved up to the 5th running position with ease. He held that position through many cautions and being bumped around several times. Unfortunately, on one of the restarts, Don was slapped on the wrist with a 2 position penalty for jumping the start. He ended up finishing the race in 6th place out of 18 cars. We will be back to racing again on April 20th.

The Rugged Cross Racing team was back racing on 30 March. The team felt like they would do well since Don pulled a good starting spot in the heat race. Don started 2nd in the heat race and led up until the 5th lap then was passed by 2 cars (Tony Quade, #28, and Will Nelson, #46) and he ended up finishing 3rd. This finish put in him in the front in the feature race starting 4th. Don was racing well and the car was handling great until he was tapped in the turn by (Troy Kasiris, #17). This caused Don to lose control of the car and it spun and hit the front stretch wall, which brought out the yellow flag. The car only had some minor front end damage so Don stayed out on the track. After 2 or 3 more laps, the car was tapping real bad so Don parked it in the pits for the remainder of the race. After loading up the car the Rugged Cross Race team realized what the tapping noise was. Turns out, it was a spark plug that came out and it was tapping on the distributor. The problem is fixed and the #40 Rugged Cross Race Team will be back to racing on 6 April.

The race car was taken to the track for the first time this. First, the car was in the Potomac Speedway car show at Hunt's Auto Sales on Saturday, then on Sunday the car hit the track. The track was not in the best of conditions, it was very dusty and dry and there were ruts all over the place. Even though the track was a mess, the #40 Rugged Cross race car didn't run too bad. At this time, the only thing that needs to be done to the car before next weekend is that it needs to be thoroughly washed and needs new tires mounted on it. Other than that, the team is ready for another fun filled racing season!

In the second feature, Don started 12th, avoided numerous major accidents including spinning out once on his own and finished 10th our of 17. Hopefully the team will figure it out and be more competitive next week. The next race is scheduled for 25 August.

Potomac Speedway 15/15 Don Breach 4th/19
We traveled to the track and made an attempt to race. It did end up raining a little bit but we got the races in. Don finished 4th out of 19 cars. We tried a totally different set up on the car changing the air pressure and wheel stagger. After catching on to the reaction of the car due to the new set up, we were more competitive. The car received minimal damage. We are not scheduled to race on the 16th and races are to be resumed on the 23rd.

Potomac Speedway 15/15 Don Breach 10th/16
This race turned out to be a tough one for the Rugged Cross Racing car. The car had plenty of power but Don could not get the handling down in turns 1 & 2. He would come out of the turns rough and not be able to catch up to the pack on the straightaway. Better luck to him next week.

Potomac Speedway 15/15 Don Breach 14th/16
Due to the loss of tire grip last week, Don purchased a new tire hoping that would help him out. Unfortunately, the new tire was of no help to the Rugged Cross Racing car. Don started the feature in 14th place and ended in 14th. The car had no power for some reason and Don could not figure out why until he took it to Country Club Automotive the next day. Turns out that the car was running on 7 cylinders instead of 8. The problem was fixed and was ready for racing on Sunday for the rained out feature from 12 May.

Potomac Speedway 15/15 Don Breach 9th/18
Don ran really well this week. Although he lost tire grip half way through the feature, the car had plenty of power and raced great. Don started 17th out of 18 cars and finished the feature in 9th place. This earned him the "Hard Charger" trophy. This trophy is presented to the driver who passed the most cars during the race.

Potomac Speedway Feature Rained Out
We ran in the warm-ups and the timing jumped. That problem was fixed and we ran in the heat race. Don made it up to third place and the motor shut off. We got towed to the pits and found that the dowel pin on the distributer gear broke. Then the Lord blessed us with a rain out and Don still qualified for the feature which has been rescheduled for 19 May.

Potomac Speedway 15/15 Don Breach 6th/23
Scott Cross built us a new motor with lots of horsepower. This was the first race driving with the new motor. Before the warm-ups, the started broke. This didn't stop us, we just had to get push started for the night. Don started 8th in the feature and finished 4th. He started 8th in the feature and ran very well. He was keeping up with the pack. He finished 6th overall in the feature.

Potomac Speedway Races Can celled Due To Rain
UPDATE ON MOTOR: The piston detonated as a result of running the car too "lean" causing metal to go all throughout the motor. We had a hole in the cylinder wall, broken lifters, bent rods, and a broken camshaft. The only thing salvageable from the motor were the heads. We have a new motor on the way and should be ready for racing next week.

Potomac Speedway 5/15 Don Breach 19th/22
The night started out well. We were running in the top 10 in the warm-ups and the heats and even in the feature. Then, the worst happened. It was probably about lap 5 or 6 and we were coming out of the turn and the motor shut off. Then smoke and flames started coming out of the front of the car. Don was ok, just a little bummed about his motor. Tim, from Country Club Automotive, and Don are going to be looking over the motor to try and find what was the cause of the fire and if the motor can be fixed. Details to follow.

Potomac Speedway 0/0 Don Breach 8th/19
We raced in the warm-ups and the heat laps but then as we went out for the feature race, the sky opened up and it started thunder storming. During the warm-ups and the heat laps, it looked like everyone was out for blood. The drivers were beating and banging each other and rather than driving around each other, they were trying to drive through each other. We ended up getting hit a few times and ended up coming out of the races with a broken axle. All is fixed now and we are ready to go back next Friday night.

Potomac Speedway 15/15 Don Breach 8th/19
Don got back in the driver's seat for the first time since last season. He raced well in the warm ups except for a little tap in the side from another driver, we now have a little hole in the drivers side door, no big deal. In the heat race, the leader spun out in front of him and he tried to dodge him and hit another car and lost the front plastic bumper. We decided to run the feature race without the bumper on the car. In the 15 lap feature race, Don started 7th and quickly moved up to 6th. He held 6th position until a caution came out on lap 13. Once the race started back up, the 2 cars behind him caught up and passed him on the last lap. He ended up getting 8th place out of 19 cars. Not bad for his first week back to racing!

Potomac Speedway 0/15 Tim Jesilonis Did not start
Tim Jesilonis from Country Club Automotive was scheduled to race the first race for the Rugged Cross Racing team in Don's place. The car was all ready for the race until the starter cable came out. We didn't end up running in the feature.
